Early Release for Bad Behavior Blog Tour Interview and Giveaway 2012

WELCOME EVERYBODY!!

Kevin Hopson, author of Early Release for Bad Behavior, stopped by the blog today. Welcome to I Love My Authors Kevin, it is Awesome to have you here. Come on in folks, sit down, and enjoy the Interview..

Kevin's primary interests are in the science fiction, horror, paranormal, and crime fiction genres.

Prior to hitting the fiction scene in 2009, Kevin was a freelance writer for several years, covering everything from finance to sports. His debut work, World of Ash, was released by MuseItUp Publishing in the fall of 2010. World of Ash was a Top 10 finisher in the 2010 Preditors & Editors Readers Poll, finishing number six in both the Short Story Horror and Short Story Science Fiction categories. Since then, he has had two other short stories released by MuseItUp Publishing - Earthly Forces and Early Release for Bad Behavior. In addition to being available individually in digital format, these stories are collected in print under the title Darkness Abound.

Kevin's follow up to Early Release for Bad Behavior, a story titled A Gut Feeling, is featured in The Immanent World, a dark fiction anthology released by AOE Studios in March 2012. His most recent work, Three Miles Below, is currently scheduled for an October 2012 release by MuseItUp Publishing.

When did you start writing?
To be honest, I hated writing up until college. It wasn’t until then that I really got into it. As far as writing professionally, I started about 12 years ago. However, I have only been writing fiction for the past few years.

What inspired you to do it?
I found it was the best outlet for my imaginative mind. There’s something about creating a product from scratch (in this case a story) that can’t be duplicated in other professions.

What projects have you done?
I have five books that are on the market right now. Three short stories – World of Ash, Earthly Forces, and Early Release for Bad Behavior – were all released as individual e-books through MuseItUp Publishing. These stories are also collected in print (self-published) under the title Darkness Abound. Furthermore, I have a follow-up story to Early Release for Bad Behavior, which is titled A Gut Feeling. This story is included in a dark fiction anthology – The Immanent World – by AOE Studios.

Any new projects coming up?
My most recent contracted work, Three Miles Below, is scheduled for an October 2012 release by MuseItUp Publishing. I also have a short story that will be featured in a zombie anthology in the near future.

What is your opinion on people who post bad reviews?
I don’t mind bad reviews as long as they’re constructive. Writers can always learn from their readers. If someone is posting a bad review solely to bash a writer, however, I have a problem with it.

Anything you would like to share with readers on a personal note that would allow them to get to know you better?
This is about as personal as it gets, but my wife and I lost our first son, Aydin, back in August of 2010. He was stillborn at 36 weeks, and the months that followed were probably the roughest of my life. I am happy to say, though, that my second son – Skyler – came into this world healthy on October 23, 2011. He has changed my life, and he has inspired me to write again after a long lay-off.

What are your habits when you sit down to create? Do you have to be in a certain room? Outside?
Some people like to play music while they write. Not me. I need complete silence to be effective. I almost always write in the same room. I’ve tried writing outdoors (as nice as it seems), but there are too many distractions for me.

Will you ever stop writing? Have you ever had a moment that you felt like quitting and why?
I can’t envision myself not writing (as long as my brain and body stay healthy). There have been a few times when I’ve felt like quitting. A lengthy period of rejections, the passing of my first son, and slow book sales all contributed to this mentality at some point, but I eventually overcame these obstacles.

Do you use video to promote your work? Do you think giving people a visual helps with sales?
I have done book trailers for a couple of my books. I don’t know if it’s actually helped with sales, but I think a visual demonstration certainly assists in getting the premise of the book across to readers.

What animals do you have?
I have a seven-year-old male Chihuahua named Paco.

Do you like vampires who sparkle or bite?
Ones that definitely bite.

Do you have any fun giveaways going on?
I have a giveaway that will take place at http://www.freebookdude.com/ during the second half of June. I will be giving away free copies of Early Release for Bad Behavior, as well as gift certificates to my publisher’s bookstore.

Where can we find your page/address?
I have a blog at http://kevin-hopson.blogspot.com/.

Who does your cover art? Do you design it yourself?
Delilah Stephans has done all three of my covers at MuseItUp Publishing. She is one of the company’s designated cover artists. We (readers) have some input as to what we would like to see, unlike most publishers, but our cover artists do most of the work. All of our cover artists are very talented, too.

Are you on Goodreads? If so, please share your page address and has it helped you reach more fans?
Yes. The address is http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4404552.Kevin_Hopson. It has definitely helped me reach more fans.

Where to find Kevin:

Callie's Heart Blog Tour 2012 ~ Interview with Kathleen Ball

Welcome to Callie's Heart Blog Tour 2012
An Interview with Kathleen Ball

Hello Everyone! We have the Awesome Kathleen Ball, author of Callie's Heart, on the blog today. Welcome to I Love My Authors Kathleen. So glad you are here, I have been watching your stories develop for the past year. Congratulations on being published.

Meet the Author

A voracious reader, Kathleen quickly discovered the world of romance novels and she knew she was home. At the encouragement of her sister Tricia, she decided to try writing. Kathleen wrote her first book two years ago. She was shocked to find out that people loved what she wrote. All of Kathleen's novels are award winners. Callie's Heart is her first published novel. It is the first book in The Lasso Springs Series. Kathleen lives in Texas. She moved there from Rochester, New York and is having the time of her life exploring Texas culture. Kathleen is married to her wonderful husband Bruce and they have one son, Steven. They just welcomed new additions to their family, a new daughter in law, Brittany and her cute as a button son, Colt.
She feels blessed to be supported in her writing by her family and friends.

The Interview

What steps have you taken to succeed?
I have watched, learned, asked for and taken advice. I started networking before I was published and that has helped. I also entered a few RWA contests that give you feedback. I think that was my greatest learning tool.

Anything exciting coming up in the near future?
I have a new series Dawson’s Ranch. Texas Haven will be available in June and Ryelee’s Cowboy in August from Secret Cravings Publishing. My Lasso Springs series-- Callie’s Heart is now available. Lone Star Joy will be released Sept 21 and Stetson’s Storm Feb 21, 2013 from Desert Breeze Publishing.
Secret Cravings has asked me to do a free series on Sundays. The working title is Luke’s Fate. I will add to it every week.

How did you get started?
I always had a book in my hand. I love to read. My sister Tricia encouraged me to try writing.

Give us a sample of your work.
He filled out wranglers like no one else. His blue western shirt wasn't as tight as some cowboys wore theirs, but Callie knew that he was buff with six-pack abs. He'd taken his shirt off a lot last summer and she never shied away from looking. Her expression must have shown her sorrow, the look of sympathy Garrett gave her made her stomach turn. Somehow, she had to get him out of her system.

What animals do you have?
I have two cats Tiger and Callie

 Favorite book.
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Are you clumsy or graceful?
I wish I could say graceful but unfortunately, I’m the one that always trips.

Where can we find your page/address?

Thank you so much for stopping by today, it has been a pleasure getting to know you better, learning about your writing achievements,  and an honor to watch and share your dreams coming true.

Books I've come here to schlep to you in the hopes that you will enjoy them:

Let's start with my OF WAR Series of Paranormal/Romance/Erotica/Drama/Action

My Review
The Heart of War-Book #1 in the OF WAR Series
Inside the Heart of every Warrior breathes the Soul of a Hero--even within The Heart of War.

Meet Ares God of War, the greatest Warrior the world has ever known. He's moody, grumpy, dominant, ravenously sexual, and above all, built like a Greek God.
Suspected of killing his Daughter in-Law, Psyche, and long in exile from Olympus, the solitude of Ares' secluded Greek Isle is interrupted when Magdalena MacLeod a plucky little Fey washes up on his shore after believing she's been shipwrecked. It's not mere fate that has brought the unlikely couple together yet it may be what tears them apart.
Branded with a golden chastity belt bearing the mark of Cernunnos, Celtic God of the Forest and Death, Alena has been on the run from her husband the Great Horned God for 200 years.
When the Olympians discover her presence on Ares' island, they send Apollo to the island while Ares is away with orders to bring her to Olympus. With nowhere to run and strikes a bargain with the God of War--her virginity for his protection.
Ares sees a sweeter deal; her in his bed and himself back in his rightful place on Olympus among the Gods. If it means turning Alena over to Zeus afterward, well that's of no consequence to him...is it?
After Alena proves herself to the God of War in battle and in his bed, Ares must choose between his Divinely Dysfunctional Family, his pride, and Alena.
Get lost in this sweeping dark saga of lust, rage, revenge, and redemption. Battle Ancient Gods while falling in love with Ares God of War and Alena MacLeod. They share a love that will rock the world from the heights of Olympus to the Celtic moors.

EXCERPT: The Olympians were quite the Divinely Dysfunctional Family. Alena had never seen or heard so much bitter bickering from one clan. If that was her Family, she might be damn happy that she lived in Exile on a beautiful island such as this. "They're awful." She whispered in his ear careful not to let any prying ears overhear. Ares gave out a deep chuckle and then another sigh as his hand rose up to caress her arm. She thought of how brave, how daring, and even dashing, Ares had been as he stood there telling all of them they could not have her. When she listened to him speak of Artemis, Alena nearly cried. Then she had been stunned into silence having expected the God of War to hand her over, maybe not with ease but readily enough, in return for his crown and scepter. "Thank you for keeping your promise."
"You expected this chauvinistic pig to do less." Ares mused still with his eyes closed. "Everyone does."
Under her hands, beneath the thick pad of fur her fingers were twirling, Alena felt the steady beat of his heart. It too was brave and strong. "Why did you do it?"
Last night, Ares indulged himself in the pleasures Alena had to offer not in the name of any barter. Not for any affection. Just, simply, because the opportunity arose and he took it as he always did. Come morning, Ares expected that he would turn her over to the Olympians in exchange for those things so wrongfully taken from him. For all her intrigue and mystery, she was still, disposable. Unimportant. Superfluous. For centuries, all he thought about was going home and the chance finally fell into his lap, Ares thought it was a Gift from the Gods.

Child of War-A God is Born Book #2

Do you remember Damien? Raven makes that kid look like an angel.
In book #2 of the OF WAR Series, Ares settles down with his wife, Alena, to await the birth of their son, Raven. As Alena struggles to enjoy what should be a blessed event, prophetic visions of an adult Raven haunt her dreams. Are they true visions or false ones implanted by Cernunnos who told her the boy would bring glory to Ares but only pain and agony to her? The strong but delicate Fey is relentlessly bombarded by hostility from the Olympians making her yearn to be back on Ares’ secluded island home, far away from all the bickering and backstabbing that makes up Life on mighty Mount Olympus.
Before Raven is even born, Zeus outwardly despises him for his Fey blood given to him by his filthy Celtic mother. With no way out and no way to keep his family safe from his father, Zeus the God of Gods, Ares enters into a blood pact that could cost the God of War everything he holds dear.
After a harrowing birth wherein mother and son are nearly lost to Ares, it quickly becomes clear that Raven may be the most powerful and cunning Olympian ever born despite his muddled bloodline.
As Zeus, Apollo, and Aphrodite plot against the new family by carefully planting the seeds of rage and doubt in Raven’s mind, they turn son against mother. It appears as though Alena’s visions and Cernunnos’ prophecy are coming to life as Raven grows to be a very angry young man.
As the true past between the Olympians and Celts is revealed, the battle for Ravens’ mind and the ultimate control of Olympus begins. Before it’s over, the white snows of Olympus will run red with blood.

EXCERPT: "Wow," Ares muttered, stroking his beard trying to digest everything he'd seen. Magick was not normally part of Alena and Raven's sparring routine; she was afraid to use it even though he'd tried to tell her that he could counter any damage she might do. No matter what he did he couldn't coax her into it, so magick was off-limits when they sparred. Today when Raven unexpectedly threatened her with it, Alena didn't hesitate to answer the call.
Catching her breath and feeling a wave of nausea wash over her, Alena looked down at Raven, who looked up her angry and afraid. "Are you ok?" She reached out a hand to him but Raven batted it away.
"Fine, mom." Jumping to his feet in a quick move, he brushed off the dirt and debris from his bare skin. Instead of stepping up and congratulating his mother, when she turned her back to him to look at Ares, Raven let an ice ball fly from his hand to strike her in the back of the head, splitting it open as it brought her to her knees. "Take that, you whore."
Ares didn't hesitate, he didn't even know he was doing it; all he did know was that one moment Raven was standing there with that snide smug look on his face and the next he was screaming as flames surrounded him. He stumbled in the fire a few moments before turning his whole body to ice and putting out the flames. When Raven returned to normal, he was lightly singed but otherwise unharmed. "Don't ever do that again, boy."

My Review
Christmas Eve on Olympus- Short story enhancement to the OF WAR Series
Join, Ares, Alena, and Raven as Alena brings Yuletide and Christmas to barren Olympus in this very short holiday-themed story. Story contains graphic scenes of Christmas Sex! This short story is meant as an enhancement to the OF WAR Series. It takes place after Book #1 The Heart of War and during Book #2 Child of War-A God is Born. Those who have not yet read this series will get a nice, if not typical, introduction to the series while readers of the series will enjoy this little glimpse into a single day of life on Olympus.

EXCERPT: As her mind feverishly searched for what she'd missed, a small bit of fluffy white and green came into her view and she felt relief as a smile broke out on her pretty face. "What's that?"
"Mistletoe, I believe there's some Mortal custom about standing beneath it and then being forced into kissing."
Alena glanced upward over her shoulder to take him in and marveled at how handsome he was. "Forced? How terrible."
"Awful," Ares holding the mistletoe over their heads with one hand and pulling her in close with the other. He lowered his head for the kiss he'd been waiting for all night. When their lips he was not disappointed but encouraged to probe deeper with his tongue and grasp the soft red velvet surrounding her tighter as the mistletoe fell to the marble floor and he grabbed her with both arms turning her fully around to face him. Her heart raced against his stomach, even through the velvet, he felt it as she pressed against him and reached up to grab handfuls of midnight hair. "You know, if you're lucky," Ares said breathlessly as their lips parted, "I think I might have a candy cane around here for you to suck on."
"Oh, really? I love candy canes," she winked up at him as she bit down on her lower lip, "where oh where could it be? Over there by the tree?"
Ares shook his head, "No," ran his hand through her silver hair. "Guess again."
"Did you put it in my stocking?"
"Not yet." That made Alena giggle like a schoolgirl. He always loved it when that titter graced his ears.

Child of War-Rising Son Book #3 in the OF WAR Series releases September 21, 2012
Blurb not yet available but I would like to offer you the following little sneak peek into this novel.
“What manner of demon are you?”
With the heat dissipating around him as the Flaming Shades backed off, Raven forced himself to his feet and to take in a breath of the smoky air, “I’m not a demon, I’m an Olympian.”
“That remains to be seen,” she mocked.
“I am…”
“Nothing! You are NOTHING! You’re not an Olympian nor a Fey nor a Human. You’re a mongrel. You’re nothing. Not like Hunter. Not like poor sweet Trinity.”
Now that the waves of heat subsided, Raven clearly saw the woman before him, she was very tall and reed thin. She floated in the air with her fiery hair stretching far out to every side like snakes of fire they moved with a life of their own and seemed to stare at him. Her face was well-carved, beautiful even, like her Sister Alecto, “Megaera,” Raven sneered as his upper lip curled, “your tricks won’t work on me. I’m not jealous of my siblings.”
“Aren’t you?” She challenged. “Oh, I think you try to lie to me, little Lord Raven. I think you are so jealous of them, even the simpleton Sister of yours that the rage always threatens to overtake you.” Megaera stared at him with open disgust and loathing blazing in her black eyes. “I know that at least once it did.” Her words caused the certainty on his face to falter and that made her smirk as she made her way around him taking in every inch head to toe and back again. “But, that’s not my concern, it belongs to another. Tell me about Hunter, how do you plan to kill him?”
“Slowly,” Raven answered without thought.
Megaera gestured to the crumbling burning City of the Dead with a scrawling hand full of fiery fingers, “Get used to this place, future God of the Damned, your Fate is sealed by our own hand.”

Welcome to the Reign of Blood Blog Tour
E-book and Swag Pack Giveaway!!

Alexia Purdy is one of a kind! She has a never-ending imagination bringing to life the action, passion, and adventure of whatever she creates for our reading pleasure. ~ Lovetiggi

Blurb:
"Never tease anything that wants to eat you. My name is April Tate and my blood is the new gold. Vampires and hybrids have overrun my world, once vibrant with life, but now a graveyard of death shrouded in shadows. I fight to survive; I fight for my mother and brother. The journey is full of turns that I am quite unprepared for. And I'm just hoping to make it to the next Vegas sunrise..."

In a post-apocalyptic world, a viral epidemic has wiped out most of the earth’s population, leaving behind few humans but untold numbers of mutated vampires. April is a seventeen-year-old girl who lives in the remains of Las Vegas one year after the outbreak. She has become a ferocious vampire killer and after her family is abducted, she goes searching for them. What she finds is a new breed of vampire, unlike any she has seen before. Unsure of whom she can trust, she discovers that her view of the world is not as black and white as she once thought, and she's willing to bend the rules to rescue her family. But in trying to save them, she may only succeed in bringing her fragile world crashing down around her.

Excerpt #1
Rye tilted his head as he narrowed his steely eyes, sizing me up. “You think you’re so righteous, don’t you? This so-called mission of yours–killing the wildlings like animals–and for what? Just to find your family. Does that make you better than us?” He started shaking his head as he further closed the gap between us, a sinister grin dwelling on his lips. “But you’re not better than us, April. You, my dear, are just another kind of vampire.”

Excerpt #2
My eyes fell on one thing that I had not noticed before. The driver’s side door was slightly cracked open. My stomach lurched for a moment as I slowly stepped around the front of the van to look at the door. A smear of blood ran along the handle and up to the edge of the window. A bloody handprint of dark brick red in color, painted the center of the door. I gasped as my heart jumped, immediately drawing my machete out. I crouched against the van as my eyes darted around, looking for anything that would lead me to where they were. I searched the ground for blood trails but none could be found. If scavengers were out here too, they could have snatched them and I’d have been none the wiser. Not that I had seen any for almost a year.

Excerpt #3
I rounded the corner and came to dead stop. Before me stood a woman, dirtied and with wild hair. Her face was streaked with grime and rips ran through her clothing. Blood had dried in dark red and brown splats on her shirt and pants and the large Rambo-like knife that she fingered in front of me. She was ready to pounce, slowly shifting on her legs as she narrowed her eyes at me. Sucking in my breath, I instinctively reached for one of the machetes strapped to my side.

I was too slow.
