Four women - four friends - share a determination to stop a killer who has been stalking newlyweds in San Francisco. Each one holds a piece of the puzzle: Lindsay Boxer is a homicide inspector in the San Francisco Police Department, Claire Washburn is a medical examiner, Jill Bernhardt is an assistant D.A., and Cindy Thomas just started working the crime desk of the San Francisco Chronicle.

But the usual procedures aren't bringing them any closer to stopping the killings. So these women form a Women's Murder Club to collaborate outside the box and pursue the case by sidestepping their bosses and giving one another a hand.

1st to Die is the start of a blazingly fast-paced and sensationally entertaining new series of crime thrillers.

Quite an Intriguing Start to a Mysterious Series

I have been wanting to read/listen this series for quite a while now. I was not disappointed with the story or the narration of this first installment. Full of heinous crimes and mystery. I quite enjoyed this audio version, it brought the book to life for me.

I really enjoyed the way the narrator portrayed Jacoby's voice. Well Done.

Audio Book Review: Mr Mercedes (Bill Hodges Trilogy, #1) by Stephen King

Title: Mr. Mercedes
Series: Bill Hodges Trilogy, #1
Author: Stephen King
Genre: Mystery/Thtiller
Release Date:

In a mega-stakes, high-suspense race against time, three of the most unlikely and winning heroes Stephen King has ever created try to stop a lone killer from blowing up thousands.

In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, hundreds of desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes.

In another part of town, months later, a retired cop named Bill Hodges is still haunted by the unsolved crime. When he gets a crazed letter from someone who self-identifies as the “perk” and threatens an even more diabolical attack, Hodges wakes up from his depressed and vacant retirement, hell-bent on preventing another tragedy.

Brady Hartsfield lives with his alcoholic mDetecher in the house where he was born. He loved the feel of death under the wheels of the Mercedes, and he wants that rush again. Only Bill Hodges, with a couple of highly unlikely allies, can apprehend the killer before he strikes again. And they have no time to lose, because Brady’s next mission, if it succeeds, will kill or maim thousands.

Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.

"Manically Twisted"

What made the experience of listening to Mr. Mercedes the most enjoyable?
I could close my eyes and envision the world.

Who was your favorite character and why?
Brady Hartsfield - Why? He is one sick, twisted, insane maniac. I Loved to despise him.

Which scene was your favorite?
When Bill decides to stop Mr. Mercedes

If you could take any character from Mr. Mercedes out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Bill Hodges... to talk to him about his days as a Detective and to ease his depression.

Any additional comments?

Stephen King has won me over again. It has been some years since I have read any of his novels... in fact... this the first audio book of his that I have listened to. The combination of King's writing and Will Patton's narration is a win-win in my book. I enjoyed it.

The characters are so well developed, especially the antagonist. Brady Hartsfield is one sick, twisted, insane, and maniacal character. One of those that I Love to despise as if he were real. Bill Hodges is just as one might expect a retired and divorced Detective to be.. depressed... that is until he decides to go after Mr. Mercedes before he can strike again.

The world is full of suspense, mystery, thrills, and horrific scenes winding through insanely twisted turns.

I recommend this series! Not for the faint of heart!

"Helaciously Twisted"

If you could sum up Tim Miller's Hand of God Trilogy in three words, what would they be?
Diabolical, Twisted, Evil

What was one of the most memorable moments of Tim Miller's Hand of God Trilogy?
When he learns about his birth parents.

What about Joe Hempel’s performance did you like?
I thoroughly enjoyed his narration. Keeping the different voices he used for the characters straight. Great job!!

Who was the most memorable character of Tim Miller's Hand of God Trilogy and why?
That would have to be Charlie, the main character. He stands out because of his inner dialogue, and his genetic make up.

Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this book because of the unique presentation. Good ~ vs ~ Evil has a fresh twist.

Cover Reveal: Needing to Fall by Ryan Michele

Title: Needing to Fall
Author: Ryan Michele
Genre: Inspirational Romance
Release Date: January 25, 2016
Cover Designer: Melissa Gill MGbookcovers
Have you ever sunk inside yourself to a place of darkness so deep you couldn’t see the light? Had no hope? Felt completely alone in a world filled with so many people?
I have. I’ve lived it, breathed it.
Why?
Because life hated me.

It disliked me from the moment of conception, despised me when I was born, loathed me when I bounced from each foster home, and kicked me in the gut when I watched the one thing that meant everything to me leave.

For years, I drifted, unable to find my footing, never knowing what the word stable meant. Then a single moment in time rocked me to my core, changing me and making that solid ground I so desperately craved crumble at my feet, causing me to fall farther than I’d ever imagined.

The darkness of the swirling tornado that is depression captured me, pulling me down to its depths, drowning me, suffocating me, owning me.

A depth so deep, I didn’t think I’d survive and didn’t care if I did. I only wanted peace. I wanted the pain to disappear. I wanted to be … free.

Needing to fall into the cyclone of darkness was the only way I could find the light.
**Warning: This book covers many tough issues—including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and abuse. It is a very highly charged, emotional read. 18+ Only. After reading that series, her entire world changed in the blink of an eye. Not only was she sucked into new worlds and all of the wonderful words authors put down on paper, she felt the urge to begin to write down the characters that played inside of her head. In doing so, Safe was born. When she’s not reading or writing, she spends time taking care of her two children and her husband, enjoying the outdoors and laying in the sun.

From the bestselling author of the Blood Curse Series...

Mina Louvet is a fighter, a human with a powerful will to survive in a world dominated by warlocks, soul-eaters, and shifters. Identified by the king’s witch as one of the rare, invaluable females in Dragons Realm who can give birth to a dragon’s son, she was stolen from her parents as a child and taken to the Keep to be reared in the ways of the Ahavi. As one of the few, the elect ~ the Sklavos Ahavi ~ Mina is expected to feed her master’s fire, reanimate his blood, and above all else, give him strong dragon offspring: children who will one day rise to power. But Mina, to her great misfortune, is far too intelligent for her own good: She has a stubborn sense of justice, and she is wholly incapable of blind submission.

Dante Dragona is as cunning as he is lethal, as methodical as he is dangerous, and as terrifying as he is powerful. As the eldest of three dragon princes, he is destined to succeed his merciless father to the throne of Castle Dragon. But first he must do his duty to the Realm by governing one of its harsh, unforgiving districts and claiming a Sklavos Ahavi. Hardened by the sadistic abuse he endured as a child and shaped by the tragic suicide of his twin, the prince lives only to fulfill his obligations to the monarchy: to maintain law and order in a bestial land, to contain its magical inhabitants, and to keep the kingdom safe from its mortal enemies, the Lycanian shifters across the sea. Like all primordial dragons, he rules with an iron fist, dominates with absolute power, and punishes with fire. Those who oppose him die a swift and brutal death ~ subject, enemy, or slave ~ the Realm has no tolerance for weakness.

When the iron resolve of a dragon prince clashes with the stubborn will of a slave, bonds will be broken, alliances will be tested, and a kingdom will be set ablaze.

Dragons Realm is divided into three parts:

Tessa Dawn grew up in Colorado where she developed a deep affinity for the Rocky Mountains. After graduating with a degree in psychology, she worked for several years in criminal justice and mental health before returning to get her Master's Degree in Nonprofit Management.

Tessa began writing as a child and composed her first full-length novel at the age of eleven. By the time she graduated high-school, she had a banker's box full of short-stories and books. Since then, she has published works as diverse as poetry, greeting cards, workbooks for kids with autism, and academic curricula. The Blood Curse Series marks her long-desired return to her creative-writing roots and her first foray into the Dark Fantasy ~ Gothic Romance world of vampire fiction. She is also working on a new series, featuring alpha male characters descended from dragons.

Tessa currently lives in the suburbs with her two children and "one very crazy cat" but hopes to someday move to the country where she can own horses and a German Shepherd.

Writing is her bliss.
