“iFEEL” by Marissa Carmel Blog Tour ~ Guest Post

If you are a fan of Charmed or Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries or The Secret Circle this series is for you!

You plan, God laughs.  This is the story of my life.

There are ideals and expectations I assume everyone has; whom you will marry, what your career will be like, where you will raise your kids. And yes, I had all those ideologies in my head, except mine were more like, have a career, don't get married and absolutely no kids.  Boy was I wrong. Today I am married with two kids, and living in a state I only passed through on occasion. And my career? Well let’s just say, I have more than one, and I never saw that coming.  Who needs more than one career? Apparently me. To make a long story short, I started my first career as a logistician, yawn, I won’t bore you with the details. The second career came shortly after.

I've always loved to write. Always. My imagination constantly runs away with itself, and I am without doubt following it. My best subject was creative writing. So when I would write, it was primarily for me (or a good grade). As time went on though, I found myself imagining more and more and wanting to create, but my life was so busy, and what would it get me anyway? Until one day my mother- in- law dropped a bomb that would change my life. She was talking to one of my husband’s cousins who was complaining about getting her college degree (she was already married with 4 kids. Yikes. I’d be complaining too.) And my MIL, the wise woman that she is simply said, honey, time is going to go by anyway, so you might as well do it. Well, it felt like the sky fell on me. The advice wasn’t even directed at me, but it resonated. I started writing that night. And never stopped.

My husband once asked where my creativity comes from, and in return I asked him if he ever heard voices in his head.  His reply, I needed to see a shrink. I told him a keyboard and a curser is the best therapy. I have always loved the supernatural, thanks in part to my mom; Charmed was one of our favorite shows to watch together and still is.  So when I started writing, it only felt natural that it took on a paranormal feel. But I didn't want to write about vampires or werewolves or really anything that had been done. I'm like that; I always tend to steer towards the opposite of popular and then proceed to make fun of it. So I started researching, and brainstorming, and concocting my mix of love, humor and emotion. Liv was already an entity in my head, festering. I'd often imagine a dark haired girl with amethyst eyes, suffering and alone. When I finally established who she really was, and what kind of supernatural elements she would possess, (an Empath-someone who can feel the emotions of others- with active abilities) I asked myself, what would it be like for someone like that to carry the world's emotions? Torrential I thought. What would it be like for her to fall in love? Even worse than torrential.  The story evolved rather quickly after that, but I didn't rush it.  It took me a little over a year to write, over two years to edit. I learned a lot about my writing style during that time, developed my voice and really tried to give it a life-like feel.

So here I am almost four years later, a husband, 2 kids, and a home in what feels like a foreign country; a daytime career and a nighttime career, all jumbling together, fighting for a piece of my time. Go hard or go home, my husband and I always joke, if we have a story, it needs a theme and that is it.  I wouldn't change it though, not for anything. Life is nothing, if not a venture - (I have no idea who said that).

Marissa Carmel has been writing since a young age and although it has always been for personal enjoyment, she finally decided breakout and share her imagination with the world. She hopes that her universe is as fun and intriguing to her readers as it is to her. Marissa Carmel is originally from NJ but moved to Maryland several years ago, she enjoys reading, writing, and catching up on her DVR library. She is currently working on the sequel to iFeel, Gravitational Pull, which she hopes to release sometime in 2012.
Book Blurb-
Lust. Anger. Hate. Desire. Love. Happiness. Joy. iFeel.

Liv Christianni is isolated, alone, tortured and withdrawn, saddled with the torrential downpour of the world’s emotions. Accepting of her providence Liv has lost all hope, until one day fate steps in and spins the course of her life like a spiraling top. Hunted by a Spirit Stalker, Liv is forced to gain control of herself and her surroundings, threatened by the touch of her immortal love; she must find a way to survive both physically and emotionally as her reality is shaken up like dice on a Craps table. Can she find the courage to accept her true self? Can she love unconditionally cognizant of the condemning consequences? Funny, witty, real, and poignant, iFeel rips into your soul, and sets your emotions on fire.

"iFeel " Synopsis
Lust. Anger. Hate. Desire. Love. Happiness. Joy. iFeel. Liv Christianni is isolated, alone, tortured and withdrawn, saddled with the torrential downpour of the world’s emotions. Funny, witty, real, and poignant, iFeel rips into your soul, and sets your emotions on fire.

Excerpt-
I direct my anger towards the mocking bottles of crazy pills settled in the cabinet. I attack them; clearing all the glass shelves in one angered fit. Tiny orange bottles fly all around my white tiled bathroom, exploding an array of colored pills against the walls and floor. It feels like I am bombing my past; liberating my future and releasing myself from whatever binds me. I want to be free, and if that means destroying my whole apartment in the process to get there, I am willing to do that.
I can feel the rage course through my veins; my head throbs and my throat burns as I thrash at my tiny bathroom. All I can hear are the voices of people who mean the most to me, those who encourage me, those who support me. To my surprise, the loudest voice is the one who is farthest away. Justice’s words echo against the tiled surface, telling me to let go, to accept my fate, to be magical and not mental. It makes me miss him all the more, but what he said finally makes sense.
My breaths pulse quickly in my lungs, as if the air is thinning. I have worked myself up into a crazed frenzy to expel my true self. My enraged fit has resulted in a bathroom bloodbath, me versus myself.
And I won.

Reviews-
I Feel great, on fire, changed, content about this book. This book is indeed a different kind of writing. I enjoyed the story very much. Extreme beings combust with contact. One that hides from all public life simply to keep from feeling every emotion from everyone around her. Destined to spend her life in lock up inside her own apartment. The other one an angel sent to protect all that is good and to keep evil from harming this "feeler". Seraphs and empaths ignite and paint the town in flames in this story. Characters that will open your heart can make you laugh, show anger in large amounts and also open your eyes on things we take for granted. Good read for sure. Loved the flow and design of details.
Great for all YA, Angels & Demons, and Fantasy fans alike. Will recommend to all. KUDOS AUTHOR Marissa Carmel. Happy Reading
from Tammy @ GREATMINDSTHINKALOUD

This author finds a way to make this story relatable to the reader, suspending your disbelief and extracting your empathy for what the characters endure.
An absolute page turner. The character of Liv has been through so much in her short years. Her friends and family attribute her strange and overtly keen behavior as having a mental imbalance. Depressed and loaded on a colossal cocktail of mood stabilizers, her friends stage an intervention and drag her to one of the many clubs at the shore. Lost in a sea of bodies, music pounding, she dances with fate and comes face to face with her destiny. As if awaking from a hazy dream, Liv finds herself without her rose color classes. Now confronted with a sudden life and death situation, she must find a way to tap into her strength and new found power.
When this book was finished you can't help but to feel enveloped in the tail so much you don't want it to end. I hope this author produces a sequel. This literary journey is just simply too good to be finished! - Amazon.com

This book is available at Createspace and on Amazon.com. As a reviewer I highly recommend it because it is unique and pleasurably entertaining to read. As a reader it tugs at the heart as the author explores the human heart and soul from the highs to the lows of forever love and has charming mysterious Justice protecting her against all evil, it has endearing qualities of bonding and breaking down the barriers of truth and the unknown discovering a powerful bond between a man and a woman that comes once in a lifetime. - Amazon.com

Shadow Series by Claudy Conn Blog Tour 2012

Welcome to the Shadow Series Blog Tour and Giveaway with Author Claudy Conn ~ Interview.
I have been friends with Claudy for some time now am thrilled to have her on the blog today. Welcome Claudy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Guest Review by Candice Stauffer ~
Author Eternal Breath of Darkness
Shadowlove-Stalkers is one of the hottest, most intriguing vampire romance stories I've ever read. Once again Claudy Conn’s brilliant ability to create the most diverse, unforgettable and well-defined main characters and supporting characters and then take them on a wild ride of action, suspense, adventure and plenty of smokin hot lovin has left me breathless.
The female protagonist, Shawna Wellsly, is such a clever, feisty as hell, gifted and self-reliant heroine that she manages to capture the reader full attention and hold on to it from the first page to the last. Throughout the entire story it's impossible to avoid rooting for her, encouraging her, attempting to guide her and keeping fingers crossed for her. From the moment he appears, the hero, Chadwick Macfare is such a mysterious, powerful, fearless, totally capable and wickedly sexy alpha male that he easily causes the reader's heart to race and temperature rise over and over again.
I never wanted the story to end. By the time I allowed myself to accept that the end was near, I was feeling quite hot and bothered, but pleasantly satisfied. Then I read the last few paragraphs and I was suddenly aching for more.
My Thoughts:
I am currently reading Book 1 and I am finding to be exceptionally well written, having excellent character and background building, the world is full of twists and turns, suspense, mystery, intrigue, and Hawt! I am loving it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I love it when My Authors stop by, it gives me the opportunity to ask questions.. so without any further ado, here we go!

1. When did you start writing
It seems I have been writing ever since I could read. I started publishing way back in late 70’s with CBS/Fawcett.

2. What inspired you to do it?
Everything I see and do inspires me. A story is there at the next table at a restaurant. Is he her lover? Is he a spy? And off I go into never never land.

3. What projects have you done?
I have written and published over 60 books. When I started it was all historical and regency. Now it is basically paranormal/fantasy.

4. Any new projects coming up?
Through Time-Pursuit where a hunk from my Legend series, takes on a star role to capture and destroy the Dark Prince, Pestale. Should be released in August.

5. Are you an independent artist or are you represented by an agency?
At this stage, I am independent and loving it, although I have an editor who wags a finger and keeps me in line.

6. Any favorite bands?
Do you use music to inspire you as you write? Often, a song will come on and bam, I get an idea. I love so many kinds of music, from Bruce Springsteen to Toby Keith. Love rock n’roll, love Taylor Swift, Reba, Adele…if it is good, I love it. Music is so important for the soul.

7. What advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?
Don’t give up. Find a good critique partner who can help you and I think, honestly believe, you must have a professional editor to set your work apart. Even with a good editor/copy editor, so many mistakes get through when it goes to formatting, but at least your content will be checked and double-checked.

8. Anything you would like to share with readers on a personal note that would allow them to get to know you better?
Oh, you mean like…I am nuts about chocolate, animals, hiking, pizza and French fries?

9. Do you find it hard to share your work with others?
Love to share.

10. Did your writing come from just a need to express yourself or a particular experience that you had?
Imagination took over and had to be expressed. Imagination needs free reign and then a great editor will snip and tuck to make it perfect!

 Book 1

The Trailer

Book 2
Her name is Nikki Walker, and she is a vampire slayer. She never thought she would have to use her slayer powers…but she does.
She is on the trail of an ancient and secretive vampire called Deadly Moon, and Nikki wants to destroy her. She has her reasons.
His name is Damon Drummond who some of you have met before, and already know that he is a hunk of an unusual vampire. He is bent on keeping Nikki away from Deadly Moon.
The sociopath vampire, WB, who had been Pentim Rawley’s right hand man has taken over the Pentim clan, and is turning out to be even more of a problem than his predecessor had been. In fact, if someone doesn’t do something soon…Dublin will go dark under his power, and other cities will follow.
Damon and Nikki are on opposite sides. He is a potent vampire--she is a skilled and powerful vampire slayer. Problem right there…but, when they look at each other, sparks of all kinds fly. Too much stands between them. He will live forever…she will not…and yet…

Book 3
Chase MacAdams is a hybrid with extraordinary abilities…
Roxie is an Indian beauty, a shapeshifter on her mother’s side and hales from a little known tribe in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. Her father is an immortal—Scottish by choice and time.
Thus, a friend, Nikki Walker thinks and rightly so, that Roxie will help in the fight against WB and his vampire clan. They need help because the vicious vampire now has Count Dracula on their side and all of Europe is in danger.
However, they have given Roxie a difficult task. The team wants her to visit with Chase in the highlands of Scotland and convince him to join in the fight. He has already refused, but Nikki doesn’t think he will refuse Roxie MacBran. And for all the wrong reasons he doesn’t…

Review: Snakes and Sinners (Hunter's Blood Series book #2)

 This series is extremely graffic in nature and intended for 18+ readers.

Snakes and Sinners by Rue Volley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
In book two we follow Vanessa and Hunter as they try to forge a new life together after Vanessa has been fully infected with Hunter's Blood.
Being a vampire is still something Vanessa is not wanting to fully accept and the battle between her fleeting humanity and strong desires to feed and explore her sexual needs gets worse by the hour.
In this addiction we see her desperately trying to hold on and then the worst thing happens...love, or better yet, the need for it.

OMG Fang~freaky~tastic! I just literally finished this second installment to Hunter's Blood. What an intriguing, spell-binding read it is at that. Definitely intended to be an 18+ read.
This installment had me so completely enthralled, you could have whipped me with a stick and I would have noticed or felt it. LOL The twists and turns were so unexpected, I did not see them coming until I was there. Explicit sex scenes are Hawt Dayum and very graphic. Rue Volley has a knack for writing that just blows my mind even more with each new story I read, becoming a legend in her own time.
This short story is not intended for everyone as it gets to the nitty-gritty on so many levels, I absolutely am amazed by how she just lays it out so picturesque.

Troy Skog's Blog Tour and Giveaway ~ Author Spotlight

Welcome Everybody!

Today we are Spotlighting Troy Skog on the blog - with his new book the Remnants. Welcome Troy!  We are also having an awesome giveaway.

Who is Troy?

The directions on how to write my Amazon biography suggest telling my readers interesting details about myself. That left me scratching my mostly bald head trying to think of what folks would find interesting. I guess I'm a product of my Minnesota upbringing, I like to say "my lack of flare is my flare".

After high school and a couple of years at the local community college I spent an enlistment in the United States Air Force providing security for the air base before finishing up my B.S. in Engineering Technology and Geography at St. Cloud State University.

In my free time I enjoy a long run or a session in the weight room, nothing cures writers block like an early morning run on the weekend. Sunrises really are inspiring!

My beautiful wife, who is one of my biggest cheerleaders, calls me her man-child for my goofy sense of humor and how I act like one of our kids most of the time. I try to bring all these values and traits, that I find to be so important in my own life, to my characters in hopes that my readers can relate to them and immerse themselves into the story.

Hopefully this biography helps you, the reader, to get to know me just a little bit and gives you some background. Thanks for taking the time to let me tell you about myself.

Welcome to The Remnants, enjoy the adventure!

The Remnants - Book One of The Kings of Pendar

Samuel Ellingstone, the King of Pendar is leading his army of men and dwarves into battle against the invading gnome hordes from the south who are bent on the ultimate destruction of Pendar.
It is clear to Samuel that his army is facing defeat on the battlefield and begins to doubt that the towering granite walls that protect the city of Pendar may not even be enough to stop Orgle, the maniacal ruler of the gnomes, and the talisman he wields.

Anna ~ OMy what a sexy, drop dead gorgeous and playful character you are surely to fall in love with.

Tony ~ Max’s best friend and team mate who backs Max up through it all, good or bad! Dude you will love this loyal, down to earth character.

I really enjoyed this book, with a sense of humor, modern day references, and playful banter between Max and Anna. Once I had the chance to actually sit down and read it, I couldn’t put it down, the suspense, action, and mystery kept me flipping through the pages! I LOVED IT!

Victim (Crimson Shadow Series) by Nathan Squiers

Victim (Crimson Shadow series)Victim by Nathan Squiers

My rating: 5 of 5 Hearts

WOW! Wicked Indeed.. OMGosh I am amazed at how Xander deals with the events taking place in this short story, the more I read this series, the better picture of Xander Stryker I get.. and the more I LOVE him! As fictional characters go, this one grabbed me from the start and has not let go.

Nathan Squiers is an amazing writer, spinning a tale so horrific, yet so unfortunately real, while bringing me in up close to the scenes that I found my jaw hanging open.

This read is not for everyone, and definitely not the faint of heart either. If you are looking forward to have your mind blown away, and love horrific psychological vampiric thrillers, then this read is for you.

This is definitely an 18+ read, due its graphic nature.

Sometimes choosing between love and family means choosing between life and death.
Aston Smith, Knight of Fridel, has been sent on a dangerous mission: catch The Rogue Royal, a notorious man who has been killing corrupt monarchs. When the mission goes wrong, the knight is sentenced to death. To escape his fate, he runs, planning to track down the murderer and clear his name.
Along the way, he meets and teams up with Jade du Halen, who he thinks is just another woman. Secretly, she is the runaway princess of Adion who denied her duties as a princess and refused to marry the man her father had chosen for her. Instead, she convinces Aston that she can clear his name, joining him on his hunt for justice.
Can these two individuals hide from their hunters, catch The Rogue Royal, and live happily ever after? Or will Jade’s secret tear them apart?
In a story told from the perspectives of five individuals, lives are changed forever, reputations are destroyed, love is found and lost, and betrayal is never far behind.
Meet Jami Montgomery
Jami Montgomery is a twenty-two year old self published author from South Texas. She has always loved books and the written word, and has been writing stories since she first learned to use a pencil. Knight's End is her first published work, and she has several other novels in the works.

Where to find Jami:
An Excerpt from Knight's End

His wrists were rubbed raw, his shoulders sore from the strain of being held above his head. Aston pulled at his restraints one last time before giving up. His wounded shoulder ached at its awkward angle, but he supposed it was fitting. Prisoners weren’t meant to be comfortable.

How many men had he put in this same predicament? How many times had King Donn told him a man was guilty and then watched as Aston brought the man down?

How many of those men had been innocent, like him?

Aston cursed under his breath. He was terrified. The knight tilted his head back, his eyes travelling to a hole in the roof no bigger than a rabbit. The full moon above him allowed the dungeon some light, saving Aston from being immersed in darkness. It also allowed him a detailed view of his dungeon mate, a man who was no more than bones, chained across the room from him.

Is that to be my fate? To be left here, forgotten, until I completely disintegrate? He shivered at the image that passed through his mind. After all he’d been through, with all he’d found out, he still wasn’t ready to die.
